Cartoon Network has officially closed its iconic website after 26 years, marking the end of an era for fans who grew up with the beloved channel. Known for shaping generations with its unforgettable shows and interactive online experiences, the website's closure signals Cartoon Network's transition into the streaming age, driven by Warner Bros. Discovery's cost-cutting measures.
As part of Warner Bros. Discovery's broader strategy to consolidate its digital platforms, CartoonNetwork.com has been shut down, with visitors now redirected to Max, the company’s flagship streaming service. Despite the website's closure, the Cartoon Network channel remains active. A spokesperson reassured fans, stating, “Fans can continue to interact with Cartoon Network via the Cartoon Network app and social platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.”
The Cartoon Network website was home to countless iconic Flash games, exclusive content, and legendary shows such as Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, and Teen Titans Go! While fans can still stream their favorite series on Max, the shutdown marks the end of a cherished digital playground that defined childhoods around the world. Though the website is gone, the spirit of Cartoon Network lives on through its shows and digital presence.
Warner Bros. Discovery reported Q2 revenue of $9.71 billion (down 6%) and a whopping net loss of almost $10 billion, driven by a $9.1 billion write-down for a drop in value of its cable TV networks. Subscribers to the company’s streaming services, led by Max, were down slightly domestically (dropping by about 300,000 to 52.4 million), while international streaming customers increased by 3.9 million in the period to 50.8 million. Most likely the main reason why they are shutting things down!
