Culture exchange
Bros before hoes (slur) or "bros before girls" is a term that comes from american culture in the early 90’s. This stems from the lifestyle concept of Bro Code. As the late 90’s and early 2000’s came about new tv channels were added to british television in house-holds and the culture transfer took place. Depending on how long males want a friendship to last, the bro code can be a set of rules which keeps these special relationships long standing. Bro code will vary from group to group with unspoken rules around partners, food and drink, sports, gaming and so on.

The Christian view
Navigating bro code from a Christian perspective can be challenging as it often emphasises loyalty and solidarity among male friends, sometimes at the expense of broader moral and ethical considerations. While the "bro code" values trust and camaraderie, Christians are called to prioritise love, honesty, and integrity in all relationships. This means that sometimes, adhering to the bro code may conflict with Christian principles, such as when it involves covering up wrongdoings or encouraging behaviour contrary to one's faith. In such situations, it's essential to offer grace and understanding, recognising that everyone is on a journey and may falter. Encouraging open dialogue, holding one another accountable with kindness, and seeking guidance through prayer can help align the principles of the bro code with Christian values, fostering relationships that honour both brotherhood and faith.
