If Bang & Olufsen is considered the Ferrari of electronics, then Ferrari might well be the Bang & Olufsen of the automotive world. Both brands are renowned for their distinct yet complementary perspectives, which makes their partnership seem almost inevitable.
Following their initial collaboration, Bang & Olufsen and Ferrari have teamed up once again, this time to create the ultimate home theatre system. This Ferrari-styled setup includes a pair of Bang & Olufsen’s Beolab 50 speakers (£77,000), a Beovision TV (£20,000), and a Beosound soundbar (£14,600). There are no compromises here—just premium quality. But how exactly do speakers and screens connect the two brands?
"It goes all the way back to the founders—Peter Bang, Svend Olufsen, and Enzo Ferrari," explains Tiina Karjalainen Kierysch, Director and Head of Design at Bang & Olufsen, in an interview with Highsnobiety. "Both companies share a deep heritage in high-performance engineering, a passion for craftsmanship, and designs that evoke strong emotion." What emerges from this partnership are exquisite audiovisual products that blend Ferrari’s design language with B&O’s unmatched craftsmanship. Or, as Kierysch puts it, "Danish soundcraft meets Italian flair."
While their first collaboration was dominated by Ferrari’s iconic red, this second collection opts for a subtler approach. "We’ve used red as a discreet accent, allowing the products to fit seamlessly into modern homes, while still adding a touch of energy," Kierysch notes. The design philosophy reflects a blend of both internal and external aesthetics, with hidden red details ‘under the hood,’ much like a Ferrari.
The minimalistic use of a single material with a consistent matte finish ensures that these pieces not only blend into a home environment but also stand out as statement pieces—just like supercars. The products even feature stylised lamellas, inspired by the vents on Ferrari vehicles.
Central to the collection is the use of aluminium. "Ferrari uses aluminium for its car chassis, and at Bang & Olufsen, we use it across our entire product range," says Kierysch. "For this collaboration, we worked with anodised, pearl-blasted, and brushed aluminium surfaces in Ferrari’s signature charcoal 'Grigio Corsa,' creating a matte finish that accentuates the fluidity and sculptural nature of the designs."
It’s clear that this collaboration is not just about speed. Instead, it highlights the elegance that both Ferrari and Bang & Olufsen have honed over their near-century of design. As Kierysch succinctly puts it, together, Ferrari and B&O represent "Power, poise, and precision."
